Lecturer on Contract
Kostas Tziaras was born in Thessaloniki in 1978. He graduated from the Department of History and Archeology of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and received a Master’s Degree in Modern History from the same department. In 2017 he was awarded a doctorate from the Department of Political Sciences, AUTH. His PhD thesis is entitled: “The Low Strata in Thessaloniki during the Interwar Period: The Social and Political Dimension of Poverty” and it is currently under publication. His papers and presentations on the political and social history of the interwar period and the 1940’s have been published in collective volumes and conference proceedings.
He is engaged in research on the history of the labour movement, the history of 20th century political movements but also on the history of surveillance and repression, crime and justice.
Since 2009 he has been teaching history and literature at KETHEA/ITHAKI and Greek language to refugees an immingrants since 2004.
In the academic year 2019 – 2020 he undertook the teaching of the courses “Antisemitism in the 20th century”, “Holocaust and historical Memory”, Refugees and immigrats” within the scientific field of “Political History: Exclusions and Discriminations” in the Department of Political Sciences of AUTH. In the academic year 2021 – 2022 he teaches the course “Elements of the Greek Labour Movement”.
