Course Content:
The course approaches the administrative phenomenon in the domain of the Greek state with the aid of legal, political and sociological perspectives; it is based on the critical discussion of the organization of central and decentralized administration, as well as of subnational self-government. Furthermore, the state organization in examined in the light of the key concepts of the rule of law and the democratic principle. Analysis also draws on the teachings of administrative science through the study of the administrative phenomenon in both the public and the private sector.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of the course, studens will:
a)aquire a comperhensive view of the administrative phenomenon, its historical evolution and its organization in the field of the state and, secondarily, the private sector,
b)be in command of an inter-disciplinary approach in the study, comparison and analysis of different organizational forms,
c be aware of the organizational advantages and deficiencies of the status quo in the administrative field in Greece
d be able to actively participate in the deliberations exploring the possibilities of transforming organizational structures in the light of current developments and of better aligning administration with the democratic principle and citizens’ participation in decision-making.
