George Chraniotis graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with a degree in History and Archaeology (2000). Having completed his Master of Arts in Modern and Contemporary European and Greek History (2005) at the same school, he has finished his PhD (2021) in the School of Political Sciences of the same university. His thesis is “Old Warriors Movement in Greece during the Interwar Period: Old Warriors, Working Class, and Communist Movement in Greece, 1922-1928”. His research interests focus on the Greek war experience (1912 -1922), the political, cultural and social history of Greek War Veterans and War Victims, the memory of wars, the history of Greek socialism and communism and the history of women during the first decades of the 20th century. Between January 2020 and November 2021 he participated, as a fellow researcher in the research team for the project Divided Memories: Cult of the Fallen, Symbolic Representations of War, Commemorations Ceremonies and Political Culture in Greece 1923-1932, under the direction of assistant professor Spyros Marchetos of Political Sciences (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki), supported by Operational Program “Development Of Human Resources, Education and Lifelong Learning 2014-2020 » in the context of the Act: “Support for researchers with an emphasis on young researchers – cycle B”.
