Antonis Papaikonomou is a graduate of the Department of English Language and Literature, of the Department of Economics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and of the Department of Balkan, Slavic and Oriental Studies of the University of Macedonia. He holds the postgraduate diplomas “Studies in Education” of the Hellenic Open University, Political Theory and Philosophy of the Department of Political Studies of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In 2011, he was awarded a Ph.D. from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki on the topic of the central role of the educational role in the self-understanding of the individual. He has elaborated four post-doctoral researches on the European identity of the teacher, the political socialization of students, the socialization of AUTH students and the sits in of schools as a sign of civil disobedience. He speaks English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, and Turkish. He has served in secondary education for 20 years. She has taught sociology of education, pedagogical research and didactics at the Aristotle University and the University of Macedonia. Since October 2017 he has served as Laboratory Teaching Staff at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
His research interests are: Educational Research, Sociology of Education and Political Sociology.
