Christoforos Vernardakis graduated from the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, University of Athens, in 1985. He concluded his postgraduate studies at the University Paris II (Sorbonne) in 1987 and received his doctorate from the University of Athens in 1995 with a thesis on “The Social and Legal position of the political parties in the post-1974 Political System.” From 2005 he worked as lecturer in the Department of Political Science of the University of Crete, before being elected, in 2008, assistant professor at the School of Political Sciences, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with subject area Political Analysis: Parties and Political Behaviour. He has co‐authored the monograph Parties and Social Coalitions in Greece Before the Dictatorship. Preconditions of the Metapolitefsi (Exantas, Athens 1991), while, since 2000, he has been editing the yearly collective volume, Public Opinion in Greece (Savvalas, Social Sciences series).
